Hoodoo is the traditional spiritual practices of Black Folks, this includes Rootwork and Conjure, too. When I say Black Folks I mean strictly the descendants of Black Folks whose Ancestors were previously enslaved in North America who were reclassified as African-American. No one else. I do not use the term African-American when referencing the Black community because it does not accurately represent who we were, nor who we are.
Hoodoo will have specific specialties to your family tree. For example, I prefer to make jars for my clients because it gives them something tangible to hold and transfer their energy into easily. I prefer using water in my workings because I'm naturally drawn to the energy of water. Other Hoodoo folks may prefer to primarily create written words and candle work. Whatever Hoodoo that person uses is perfectly alright, it's what they are drawn to and feel most comfortable with.
Rootwork can mean many things, an example would be using several different ingredients, be it herbs or natural elements to change the outcome of situations. Conjure generally means calling upon spirits, spirit walking, or shifting, this includes the necromancy of invoking Ancestral spirits to welcome in your home for your Ancestor Altar.
Hoodoo is a closed practice that is only meant for Black Folks. No, it does not include someone who is adopted into a Black family, nor someone who has Black friends, nor someone who grew up with Black people, nor someone who has a Black spouse, nor someone who has Black children.
When I share Hoodoo publicly it is only intended for my Kinfolk, Black Folks, to put into active practice. Deciding to practice my Hoodoo examples without being Black might not get you what you want.
The choice is yours.
Don't worry about what I may post on social media, I promise the information I share only scratches the surface and is already widely and openly discussed. The best information is what I tell you mouth to ear.
